Campground in California
Oceano Park and Campground was once a favorite hunting and fishing ground of the Chumash Indians. Due to the somewhat harsh terrain, settlement of the area was mostly ignored until the 1900s. The advent of the Southern Pacific Railroad in the 1890s sparked an interest for the development of Oceano. Beach resorts and large subdivisions sprang up and then, unfortunately, fell to the woes of the Great Depression.
